Developed skills and lines of research

Giordano Rampioni graduated in Biological Sciences in 2003 at Roma Tre University and earned a PhD in Biology Applied to Human Health in 2007 at the same institution. After several years of postdoctoral research in the United States at the University of Washington in Seattle and in England at the University of Nottingham, he became a researcher in 2011 at the Department of Sciences at Roma Tre University, where he has been an Associate Professor since 2022.

His research has focused on the study of gene regulation in bacteria of the Pseudomonas genus, with particular attention to the molecular mechanisms underlying intercellular communication processes. In Pseudomonas aeruginosa, these processes regulate the production of virulence factors and biofilm formation. In the context of cystic fibrosis, he contributed to developing bacterial biosensors that have been used in screening campaigns to reposition already-approved drugs for treating lung infections caused by P. aeruginosa.

He has authored over 60 publications in international journals, with more than 1,900 citations (Scopus), and holds a patent.
