Developed skills and lines of research

Moira Paroni graduated in Biotechnology from the University of Padua in 2005 and earned a PhD in Genetics and Biomolecular Sciences from the University of Milan in 2010, focusing early on the pathogens Pseudomonas aeruginosa and Burkholderia cenocepacia, known for their high risk in cystic fibrosis.
Currently, and until 2023, she holds a position as a Researcher in Microbiology at the Department of Biosciences at the University of Milan. Her primary research interest lies in studying the differentiation and activation of adaptive immune cells in response to various microbial antigens (mainly bacterial and viral antigens). In summary, her research focuses on explaining the molecular mechanisms of host-pathogen interactions and their potential for discovering new pharmacological targets.
For FFC Ricerca, she is working on developing a new precision medicine approach against P. aeruginosa. She is the author of over 30 articles in international journals, with more than 900 citations (Scopus).
