Developed skills and lines of research

Paolo Bernardi graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the University of Padua, he studied under Giovanni Felice Azzone and completed his training at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research – MIT with Harvey F. Lodish (Fogarty Fellowship, 1985–1987). Since 2000, he has been a full professor of General Pathology at the University of Padua; he served as Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Surgery (2001–2004), Head of the Department of Biomedical Sciences (2003–2009), Director of the Postgraduate School in Clinical Pathology (2012–2018) and Coordinator of the PhD programme in Biomedical Sciences (2014–2020). A Full Member of the Veneto Institute of Sciences, Letters and Arts and a Corresponding Member of the Lombard Institute – Academy of Sciences and Letters, he was awarded the Prize for Physiology and Pathology by the National Academy of the Lincei (2012). He served as President of the Italian Group for Biomembranes and Bioenergetics.
In 2016, he joined the FFC Ricerca Scientific Committee, where he currently serves as Chair.
