Developed skills and lines of research

Rita Padoan earned her degree in Medicine and Surgery in 1978 and her specialization in Pediatrics in 1981. In 2007 she became the director of the Regional Support Center for Cystic Fibrosis at the University of Brescia.

Her professional experience has developed through work at the Department of Pediatrics of the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Milan (1982–2003) and the University of Brescia (since 2004). She has provided clinical care at specialized centers for patients with cystic fibrosis and chronic pediatric lung diseases.

Since December 2003, her clinical expertise has been instrumental in establishing and implementing the new Regional Support Center for Cystic Fibrosis in Lombardy, located at the Department of Pediatrics of the University of Brescia. Currently, the center serves approximately 150 patients (pediatric and adult), including many from the Mediterranean basin, Eastern Europe and Asia.

Rita Padoan is the principal investigator for research studies conducted at the Brescia Support Center (inhaled anti-Pseudomonas antibiotics, new technologies to improve adherence). She collaborated with the Institute of Biometry and Medical Statistics at the University of Milan on epidemiological studies of the Italian CF population.
