Clinical practice guidelines can improve the quality of care and, for what CF is concerned, a high number of guidelines do exist. The quality of these guidelines vary considerably and a strategy is advisable to choose which ones should be implemented. The aims of this project were to evaluate the guidelines produced in the CF field, classifying them according to their methodological quality and reliability (by means of the “AGREE II Instrument” and two independent assessors), and to build a reasoned synopsis of the existing recommendations. In the first step all the existing CF guidelines were collected (more than 200 documents were expected), in the second one, the outstanding among them were selected (nearly 100 were expected) and analyzed. The availability of reliable CF guidelines could facilitate the implementation in daily practice of evidence-based recommendations, and the promotion of further studies in cases of uncertainty.
